Clarice and her friends visited Happy House this October, taking time from their yoga retreat in Watamu to connect with our community. They stopped at local groceries in Timboni to pick up essential food supplies, showing a genuine interest in understanding our needs. It was heartening to see them support local businesses while ensuring our children have what they need.
Their thoughtful donations went beyond just items; they brought kindness and encouragement, reminding us that our children are loved by people from all over the world. It’s these acts of generosity that help us care for our family of 55 children and support their growth in a safe, happy environment.
Thank you, Clarice and friends, for making a meaningful impact during your visit. Your support truly helps us every day.

Ludwin was busy helping her younger sister, Precious, get ready for school. Precious needed her hairstyle taken out so her hair could be washed and tidied. It took some time, but Ludwin sat down with her and patiently undid the braids.
These everyday moments are a big part of life at Happy House, where our children grow up together like one large family. The older kids often help their younger siblings, whether it’s with school prep or just spending time together. For Ludwin and Precious, it was just two sisters preparing for another week at school, supported by the care of our wonderful sponsors who make daily life here possible.

Brian has been helping Uncle Michael in the kitchen, preparing mahamri, a traditional Kenyan breakfast favorite. This lightly sweet, spiced fried bread is a hit with our children, especially on Sunday mornings. Brian proudly showed off the mahamri he helped make, a reminder of how our weekend breakfasts bring everyone together.
Our Kids Council plays a crucial role in shaping the weekly food menu, allowing our children to share their thoughts on meals. Getting involved in meal prep not only teaches them practical skills but also strengthens their connection to daily life at Happy House. A big thank you to all our sponsors and supporters for making this possible. Your generosity helps us provide these meals and gives our children a chance to contribute.

Auntie Milicent shared an update about how everyone at Happy House contributes to our community. With a family as large as ours, our room captains help keep the bedrooms in order, fostering responsibility among our children. They check in on each other and report back to the aunties, which helps create a sense of home.
Our Kids Council gives our children a platform to share their ideas and work together with the staff to improve life here. This teamwork wouldn’t be possible without our dedicated staff, including Auntie Rose and our supportive trustees. Thanks to our sponsors and volunteers, we can continue to provide our children with a loving home and the best opportunities.

Happy Mazingira Day from our Waste Warriors! 🌍💛
Today Kenya celebrates Mazingira Day, its national day for the environment, so we`re sharing how our children are caring for theirs.
Our Waste Warriors programme helps make sustainable habits part of everyday life at Happy House. It`s taught by our friend Hayley from My Little Zen. One of their favourite activities: collecting bottle tops washed up on the beach, cleaning them, and finding new ways to use them.
Look at those handfuls of colour! 👆 Swipe to see the washing station at the outdoor tap. Once they`re clean, the bottle tops become games, and with Lewis guiding them, the children have even melted some down to make key rings.
Collect. Clean. Create. Rubbish becomes something to play with and be proud of.
Asante sana, Hayley and Lewis, for sharing your time and ideas with our family 🙏
