Moving on and time to party

Three young people who have been in longterm care of our Happy House are moving on and that, we thought, called for a party. ,All, who have reached 18 or more, can no longer live with our family, which was the very reason that we bought a plot of land on which to build our halfway house. ,Hsving bought the land, which has become increasingly expensive in the desirable area of Watamu, we could only afford to enclose it to make it secure and were grateful that fundraising has enabled usd to build our first phase – Hatch House. ,It’s named for two of our greatest friends, Betty Hatch and her son Paul, who died this year. ,Betty donated a sizeable amount to help fund our build and Paul was one of our charity’s trustees. ,Hatch House will provide supported living for John, who is studying a plumbing course, and for twins Gift and Tumaini who are both still in school until they are able to support themselves. ,They have all they need to live comfortably and to cook for themselves and are equipped with the life skills needed to manage. ,We will provide them with all the support they need. ,On Saturday, they celebrated moving on with a party for all the family which was made all the sweeter with a donation to buy ice-cream from a very welcome visitor, Cherry Ridgway, who was returning after many years. ,Papa Dave reminded the boys they’d always have our support and that Once a Happy House kid, always a Happy House kid.
