It might be hair today for Peter Reid but it will soon be a case of gone tomorrow! ,Peter, who is a regular visitor to Watamu and the Happy House and who is a trustee of our charity, had his hair braided by Florence, who he and his wife Joanne sponsor, while they were visiting at Christmas, ,And he’s going to keep it in braids until February 17 when he will have it all chopped off by celebrity hairdresser Pat Woods at a popular Lytham pub, The Taps. ,He’s gathering sponsorship for his effort with the aim of raising £1000 towards the Happy House Safe and Sound Appeal which is trying to raise £8,600 to meet the cost of replacing the roof on our children’s home. ,Torrential and prolonged rains last year took such a heavy toll on the makuti thatched roof that it has been rendered irreparable and unsafe. ,With 50 children living in our care we have had to get the work underway but will need to recoup the money we are paying out as all our contingency fund was eaten up during the pandemic which also took a big toll on fundraising. ,Peter’s effort will be a huge help and he’s inviting people to pop along to witness the banishment of the braids and to take a turn with the clippers! ,The charity chop will take place at 6pm. ,Peter has set up a JustGiving page for donations: https://www.justgiving.com/page/peter-reid-1705608305429?fbclid=IwAR2eOCBOvbBZoXe3lfYup4utA95-IpkcEU3s9cz9qkQrAfeMFv3q4knAfC4
