Saidi’s creative mission: Turning waste into art

At Happy House, we love seeing our young people grow into thoughtful, imaginative citizens of the world—and Saidi is a shining example of just that.

As both a dedicated scout and one of our enthusiastic Happy House Waste Warriors, he is always mindful of the impact our choices have on the planet.

Recycling isn’t just something he talks about; it’s something he lives every day.

But now, Saidi has taken his commitment to sustainability to an inspiring new level. Not only is he passionate about protecting the environment, he’s also a talented young artist.

So he decided to bring those two passions together—by creating his own artist canvases, entirely from recycled materials. crafting canvases with purpose With the help of his good friend Anthony, Saidi has turned what others might consider “rubbish” into the foundation of beautiful artwork.

The boys have been gathering salvaged wood, transforming it into sturdy frames using simple tools and teamwork.

But the ingenuity doesn’t stop there. Instead of buying canvas fabric, they have been stretching old, worn-out t-shirts—clothes that have been well-loved and used until they’re no longer fit to wear—across the wooden frames.

These materials, given a new life, create a wonderfully textured surface for painting and drawing. It’s creative. It’s resourceful. And it’s exactly the kind of initiative we love seeing grow at Happy House.

Every canvas Saidi makes isn’t just a tool for his art—it’s a reminder of the importance of caring for our planet. By choosing to recycle, repurpose, and reduce waste, he’s setting a brilliant example for younger children and proving that sustainable choices can be both practical and inspiring.

We couldn’t be prouder of Saidi and Anthony for their hard work, imagination, and commitment to making a difference.

Their creativity shows that with a bit of thought and effort, we can all turn everyday waste into something meaningful.
