Happy House Lights Up Blackpool Tower

On 16 October 2025, the iconic Blackpool Tower will shine bright in orange with a glowing red heart to celebrate the life and legacy of Mama Sue Hayward, the founder of the Happy House Children’s Home in Watamu, Kenya.

Sue and her husband Dave were well-known hoteliers in Blackpool before they sold their business to build the Happy House. Today, thanks to their vision, hundreds of orphaned and vulnerable children in Kenya have found love, education, and hope for the future.

Why Blackpool Tower?

Lighting up the Tower on Sue’s birthday is a fitting tribute, connecting her hometown of Blackpool with the children and families she dedicated her life to. The message “Happy House Kenya” will shine across the Tower, inviting the community to share in this special moment.
