High-speed internet lands at the Happy House!

There’s a new kind of magic in the air at the Happy House – and this time, it’s flying through space!

Thanks to a generous upgrade from our friends Lewis and Hayley at My Little Zen, our children’s home now has a brand-new high-speed internet connection.

And this isn’t just any upgrade – it’s powered by Starlink, a revolutionary technology that beams internet from satellites orbiting high above the Earth.

Our trustee Lewis Hall has been with us all week, working hard to install this exciting new tech. The impact? Our children now enjoy faster, more reliable access to online classes, learning platforms, and even cutting-edge tools powered by artificial intelligence.

Whether it’s diving into science, discovering new skills, or joining live yoga sessions from around the world, the digital world just opened up in powerful new ways.

It’s also been a brilliant team effort. Our very own Evans handled the cabling, while Brian and Oscar put their new Cisco networking skills into action to help with setup and configuration. And let’s not forget Uncle Charo and Uncle Sifa who bravely climbed up onto the roof to secure the receiver in place.

The kids have been absolutely fascinated by how rockets launch satellites into space, and how those satellites now help bring the internet right here to Watamu. As Abdul Malik explains in today’s video, if you look up on a clear night, you might just spot those tiny dots of light gliding across the sky—beaming the internet down to us here at the Happy House.
