So far this month has been very hot and dry here in Watamu. Over the past few weeks the sun has been strong and the land has been feeling the heat.
Normally, the long rainy season arrives between April and June, bringing the heavy rains that help the land recover after the dry months.
So everyone was a little surprised when we were treated to a lovely heavy downpour for a whole day this week. The rain was very welcome.
The ground had become very dry and many of the plants and crops were starting to feel the effects of the long hot days.
After the rain, the air felt cooler and the land looked refreshed again.
At Happy House, we know how important rain is for the land and for the crops that many families in the community rely on. Emmanuel shares more.
