What a wonderful weekend!

We are always thankful when visitors find their way to our Happy House in Watamu — and Saturday is the perfect day to come, as all our children are home from school.

This weekend was especially busy and beautifully heart‑warming. We welcomed more than 30 people from the UK, Italy, Germany, and Austria.

Many arrived bearing gifts of clothes and food, others made generous donations, and three lovely visitors even chose to become child sponsors.

In fact, we received so many clothes that by Monday morning Papa Dave and Auntie Rose’s office looked more like a clothing warehouse than an office!

In the video , Papa shares a big, heartfelt thank you to everyone who called in, joined the fun of our weekly Kids Club, and shared their talents in song and dance.

These moments of connection mean the world to our family. why your support matters more than ever In recent years, we’ve faced challenges that have put real strain on our finances.

First came the pandemic, which brought fundraising events and public talks to a near standstill — and they have never really returned to pre‑Covid levels.

Then, after 20 years, our bank unexpectedly closed our account. Sadly, many long‑standing child sponsors did not set up new standing orders with our new bank.

The result is that instead of breaking even each month, we have been operating at a deficit and dipping into the vital reserves that ensure our children continue receiving the high‑quality family care they depend on.

We are entrusted by the Children’s Department to care for those most in need — and we must maintain the safe, loving, stable home they deserve.

That’s why every new child sponsor and every donation, no matter the size, truly matters and is deeply appreciated. If you can help, please go to https://www.childrenofwatamu.org/donate/
