Our new blogging team had a lovely online learning session with our Auntie Libby, as she affectionately known to our family, but also to many as our charity’s UK coordinator Elizabeth Gomm.
Aunty Libby organised a fantastic learning session for some of our youngsters to exchange ideas and give some tips on how to make an interesting blog, to take still pictures and what to caputure in their videos,
Although these skills will certainly be useful when capturing special moments for the Happy House blog, the lesson was about much more than just blogging and was helping to equip the children with valuable communication skills that can open doors, encourage creativity and give them ways to tell stories and share the world around them with a wider audience.
With her background as a journalist, Auntie Libby has plenty of experience to share — and she is always happy to pass on her knowledge.
The children thoroughly enjoyed the session, asking questions, trying things out and discovering how much thought goes into creating a good story, photograph or video.
We are incredibly grateful to Aunty Libby for giving her time and sharing her skills so generously. Who knows, perhaps we have some future photographers, filmmakers or journalists among our young people?
Thank you, Aunty Libby, for helping our children learn something new and giving them a skill they can carry with them wherever life takes them.
