Marble magic

There was more cooking fun at the Happy House as Louise, Brian and our trustee Lewis spent the afternoon in the kitchen with the children, this time attempting something sweet!

The recipe came all the way from Dubai, from Emmanuel’s sponsor, Nicole, who is famous for her delicious marble cake. Lewis and his family decided it was time for the Happy House children to give it a try too!

The children got stuck in helping to prepare two different cake mixtures – one vanilla and one chocolate – before carefully swirling them together to create the distinctive marble pattern inside.

But there was an extra challenge. For Louise and Brian, it was their first time baking using our big wood-fired oven, where there is certainly no button to simply set the temperature.

Keeping the fire going and getting the heat just right was all part of the experience.

For a first attempt, the results were fantastic, the marble was…. there-ish but judging by how quickly it disappeared, it was a tasty success!

It was a lovely afternoon of cooking, learning and having fun together, made even more special by a recipe shared by one of our sponsors from thousands of miles away.

Thank you, Nicole, for sharing one of your favourite sweet treats with the Happy House family – we think you may now have a few more marble cake fans.
