There was so much excitement at Happy House as we set off on a very special adventure together, a boat trip along the beautiful Watamu coast!
For almost all of our children, this was the very first time they had ever been on a boat. As we climbed aboard, there were lots of nervous smiles and a few worried faces. The gentle rocking of the boat was something completely new, and nobody quite knew what to expect.
But as soon as the boat pulled away from the shore, those nerves quickly turned into huge smiles, laughter and excitement. The children loved feeling the sea breeze, watching the waves and taking in the incredible views. Before long, they were pointing out everything they could see and enjoying every single moment of the journey.
Our first stop was at a beautiful beach, where the children couldn’t wait to jump into the warm Indian Ocean. There was splashing, swimming, games on the sand and lots of laughter as everyone enjoyed spending time together. It was a day filled with happiness, friendship and memories that will stay with our children for many years to come.
None of this would have been possible without the wonderful students from Energy Coast UTC who cane from Cumbria in the UK to be with us.
Not only have they travelled all the way to Kenya to volunteer with us, but they also worked incredibly hard to raise the money to give every one of our children this unforgettable experience.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you. Your kindness has given our children far more than just a day out. You have given them confidence, new experiences and memories that will last a lifetime.
