Before setting off for home in the UK, our volunteer James Derlacki went on a very special shopping trip. James and his wife, Sabrina, spent five wonderful weeks with our family, and during their time with us they did so much to spread the word among their friends about our work with the children in our care at the Happy House.
One of James’s friends, Olly, was so inspired that he not only chose to sponsor a child, but also wanted to help further by making a donation. After discussing this with our director, Rose, it was agreed that the best way Olly could help was by contributing to much‑needed supplies for our grocery store.
Armed with a shopping list, James headed to the local stores and returned with sacks of rice, toilet rolls, cooking oil, spread, maize flour, and more. These essential staples will be used daily by our grateful family and will make a significant difference by reducing our grocery costs by many shillings.
Our heartfelt thanks go to both James and Olly for their kindness and generosity.
We know that now they are back home, James and Sabrina will continue to help us make many new friends. We already look forward to the day when they will return to visit us again.
