The children at Happy House enjoyed a creative STEM activity during a crafty afternoon led by trustee Lewis during his visit to Watamu.
The STEM (sciene, technology, engineering and mathematics) project introduced the children to the basics of electrical circuits in a fun and hands-on way.
Using paper, batteries, LED lights and copper tape, the children created cards and artwork that could actually light up once the circuit was completed correctly.
Some of the children chose to use printed templates provided for the session, while others preferred to design their own creations on blank paper and experiment with their own ideas. As they worked, the children learned how circuits connect together and discovered through trial and error how to make their lights turn on.
The session combined creativity, problem solving and practical learning, giving the children an opportunity to explore science and technology in an engaging and accessible way.
Activities like these help encourage curiosity, confidence and creativity while introducing new skills outside of the traditional classroom environment.
We are grateful to everyone who supports Happy House and helps us provide opportunities like this.

James is proud of his card
