Louise and Brian are from the English seaside resort of Blackpool sponsor one of our Happy House girls, Samira, who is 17.
So when they came to have a holiday in Watamu so they could visit Happy House, Samira was was keen to spend some time getting to know them properly.
And as one of our new Happy House bloggers, she wasn’t going to miss the opportunity for an interview.
Samira picked up the microphone and, with the camera rolling, interviewed Louise and Brian about their visit, what they had been getting up to and how they had enjoyed their time with the Happy House family.
Our children always love welcoming visitors, but it was particularly special for Samira to meet the people who support her and to have the opportunity to get to know them face-to-face.
Of course, we know that travelling to Kenya isn’t possible for every sponsor. That doesn’t mean you can’t build a special connection with the child you support. Through letters, photographs, videos and regular updates, our sponsorship programme helps our sponsors and children get to know one another even when thousands of miles separate them.
For Louise, Brian and Samira, though, this was a chance to turn those messages and photographs into a very special meeting in person and Samira made sure she got the full interview!
