Riding the wind and waves

Samira, Esther, Steve and Edward are having an amazing time learning to kite surf.
They are progressing well with the lessons they are receiving after being awarded scholarships by the Wind Family earlier this year.
Wind Family is a network of independent kite schools, instructors, brands, volunteers and educational partners based in Watamu, united by one aim – providing free kitesurfing scholarships for local youth who would otherwise never touch this sport.
Our Happy House four are making the most of every moment and going through every step slowly and surely with their volunteer instructors.
The core progression involves learning safety and theory, mastering a trainer kite on land, practicing body dragging in the water, executing a water start with the board, and finally riding and going upwind.
Edward was out at another event when this video was made but was back when they gathered for a picture, as Steve says they’re all very grateful to Wind Family for the coaching and hope they will do them proud,
