It’s a small world

Sometimes the world can feel incredibly small in the most wonderful way.

Recently, we were delighted to welcome a visitor to Happy House. Faith, who originally comes from Mombasa, Kenya, now lives and works in Dubai as a nursery teacher.

Quite unexpectedly, one of the children in her class, Theodore , who is also known as Ted , began telling her about a new friend he had in Kenya called James Hayward.

Ted had recently been introduced to James through our trustee Lewis and Theo’s parents, who have become part of his sponsor family at Happy House.

As Faith listened, she was amazed to discover that this connection led all the way to Watamu, an area she knows well from growing up in and spending time with friends and family in nearby Malindi.

Faith could hardly believe that a child in her nursery class in Dubai had an extended connection to Happy House here in Watamu, and she immediately hoped she might one day get the chance to visit for herself.

During the recent UAE school holidays, that visit finally became a reality for Faith.
